Canine Superficial Necrolytic Dermatitis secondary to Hepatic cirrhosis

The appearance of this aged Springer Spaniel’s footpads led the investigations to this rare condition, with an underlying cause of severe liver disease. A combination of medications and dietary manipulation established some stability.

Repeated thorough coat brushings, hair pluckings and even vacuuming can be required to find evidence of this itchy mite in dogs and cats, which will happily feed on most mammals including humans!


Dermatophytic Granuloma
This localised ulcerated nodule is an unusual presentation of a ‘ringworm’ infection in a Domestic short haired cat. Treatment was a combination of surgery and medication.
