Thank you to Dr Thierry Olivry DrVet PhD DipECVD DipACVD, at NC State, for the immunohistochemistry photomicrograph.

The photographs throughout this site are from cases I have treated throughout the last decade. Many thanks to Dr Ian Mason, BVetMed PhD CertSAD MRCVS, for his help, support and tuition and for the intradermal test photographs. Thank you to all the clinicians that have referred cases to me since 2000.

Flea bite Hypersensitivity
An adult ‘cat’ flea, Ctenocephalides felis, our commonest flea, its saliva can cause allergic reactions in both cats and dogs

Leishmaniosis (formerly Leishmaniasis)
Pinnal margin ulceration in an imported, three year old Crossbreed. Thorough investigations throughout the prior fourteen months had failed to provide a definitive diagnosis. All the claws had malodourous, haemorrhagic, purulent discharge, caused by secondary bacterial invasion. A tissue PCR test proved the primary infection was due to this exotic protozoal disease. Treatment was instituted hurriedly to avert the serious internal organ damage form the generalising infection

Nasal Philtral Arteritis
The diagnosis of the localised ulceration in this four year old Rhodesian Ridgeback was a rare condition documented almost exclusively in related St Bernards in the US.

After initial immuno-suppression, good safe control was instituted with topical medication.
